Hey, Bill. When I was younger (and a lot smaller), I befriended a Latias, and we used to go flying a lot. I’m an adult now, and that not only leaves a lot less time to play with her, but also, I’m pretty sure she’s too small to carry a full-grown me! Any suggestions for activities or enrichment?

Well, I suppose if you befriend an extremely powerful guardian of nature, that’s better than catching it…

In any case, this is a bit difficult because you mention you have less time to devote to her. Nonetheless, latias are highly intelligent pokémon capable of disguise, so as such, if she’s a particularly curious pokémon, one thing you might be able to do is, well, take her to places as you would a human friend. If she isn’t particularly curious or if you would rather not risk having her disguise herself and taking her to highly populated areas, you could try sparring with her using your own pokémon, giving her toys or gifts, or participating in creative activities with her. It really depends on her preferences, so ask her what she would like to do (not only in relation to the above but also in general).

Best of luck!

Heeeyyy~ so my girl Pepto Bismol is real sweet, and super cool too but a girl needs shades yknow! Cant be b-slappin wingulls if the sun is in her eyes! So what kinda sunglasses would stay on her and look baller at the same time? -◇Fumika◇ [Note From Rotom: Sorry About My Trainer’s… Speaking Mannerisms. ‘Pepto Bismol’ Is The Nickname She Uses To Refer To Her Audino With. I Personally Recommended Visor Hats For “PB” But Fumika Referred To Them As “Grandma Hats”. Please Assist When Available.]

Have you considered a pair of black glasses? These can be adjusted to fit any pokémon (or you can purchase custom-made ones for a specific species online), and they’re quite stylish, if you ask me.

Hello Bill, I have a question about Mega Evolution! I’ve only been told people could do it but… Is it one of those skills not everyone can do or can anyone just “bond” with their pokemon and reap the battle benefits?

Ah, I’m afraid it’s the latter, anonymous, which is unfortunate because many researchers would jump at the chance to study it firsthand. But the unfortunate fact of the matter is that mega evolution is a fantastically taxing process on both the trainer and the pokémon. First and foremost, you need a pokémon who’s strong enough to withstand mega evolution in the first place. Then, you need to ensure that the bond between you and it is as strong as you can get it, and then, you need to ensure you can summon the emotional strength needed to trigger evolution and then maintain it throughout a battle. The whole thing can be exhausting even for seasoned veterans, which is why only a select few with particularly strong pokémon and/or psyches can achieve it.

As someone who’s new, question to the mod: what is the clefairy incident and was it ever explained?? I keep seeing references to it but I have no idea what it’s on about

{So! Before anything else, I kinda want to cover this other question that I’ve actually gotten a couple of times because it’s kinda important to the Clefairy Incident. But basically, Bill is a minor (canon) character in the Pokémon universe responsible for inventing the storage system, which is the thing that stores your pokémon after you catch the six you’re allowed to carry. (Lanette manages this system in Hoenn, so she’s canon too.)

That’s one thing Bill’s known for. The other thing is, well, turning into a pokémon via an experiment gone wrong. Idk, guys. It was the 90s, and everyone was making jokes about The Fly. But in any case, while that pokémon was never specified in Red, Blue, or Yellow, in the remakes of the Gen I games (Fire Red and Leaf Green), it was specifically a clefairy.

Canonically, word about this got out and spread, which we know because it’s part of the reason why Lillie leaves for Kanto in Sun and Moon. But in the canon of this blog, Bill’s less enthusiastic about talking about it, which is why he and the other storage system administrators just refer to the accident as the Clefairy Incident.}

Hey Bill, do you know any Rockruff breeders in Kanto? I took a trip to Alola and came back with a Dusk Lycanroc and a Furfrou, and whenever a baby pokemon is around, the two boys shower them with affection, and I’m pretty certain they want to become parents. I’d have no problem with this, except.. I’m in Kanto, and my boys seem to be bonded to each other specifically.

I’m afraid not, which is an odd thing to say, given that Kanto is a region home to a young man who’s both a breeder in his spare time and a rock specialist, and rockruff are capable of adapting to our climate. Nonetheless, there doesn’t seem to be much local interest in breeding rockruff specifically. However, because both of your pokémon are canines, you may have some luck in simply giving them a growlithe, houndour, or eevee puppy instead (which all are popular breeding subjects in this region). So long as it’s young and has similar needs to their species, they likely will still accept it as their own.

My neighbor has been “warning” me that my Serperior (who I raised from a Snivy) is potential seconds away from constricting me, lies next to me to measure if she can eat me, etc. No attempt to talk some sense into him has helped. I don’t personally mind, but I worry that he’s stressing out my Serperior, or worse, that he might try to “save” me from her himself. Are either valid concerns? I don’t want to have to keep her in her ball around my own home for her safety if I can help it.

Besides the unlikelihood of a pokémon eating the trainer that has raised it from birth, serperior aren’t major predators to begin with. They photosynthesize and supplement their diets with far smaller prey (insects mostly). Prey as large as a human would actually likely kill a serperior because they don’t have the digestive system for it.

However, your concern about your neighbor stressing out your serperior is actually valid, as if he’s constantly measuring her and so forth, they may be violating her personal space, which could actually make her skittish enough to attack. Luckily, though, this issue can be solved with a restraining order (unless you actually like said neighbor).

Why is bill banned?

Sometimes, Bill can be a bit of a handful and needs some deescalation.

Don’t worry, readers. We do this mostly as a joke with each other. She bans me because it’s ironic, given my status as the administrator, and I fire off puns at her knowing full well no punishment she gives me would ever stick. In fact, technically, I’m back, but I do agree with some of you that she’s quite an enjoyable host. —Bill

No punishment would ever stick … except Binaclebob Trapezoidpants, I hope. —LH

Well, now that I’ve finished the entirety of that series… —Bill

Time to move on to  My Little Ponyta? —LH

Blazes, Lanette! I thought we were friends! —Bill
