Are elgyem and beheeyem really from other worlds? What about cleffa or lunatone & solrock, and what about deoxys? Is this proof of extraterrestrial life? Could there be another world out there that evolved pokemon, and could it be habitable for us???

Of these, deoxys technically is from space but not from another world. It’s simply an extraterrestrial virus that mutated after exposure to certain types of radiation in space. (We know this via computer simulations and a digital analysis of samples taken from an inactive deoxys core.) Of course, the specific origins of said virus aren’t known, but it’s likely it simply came to be on the surface of an asteroid.

As for the others, that entirely depends on which theories you follow, as this is actually a matter of heated debate among scientists—particularly when it comes to the cleffa line. The most popular theory states that the elgyem line is indeed extraterrestrial in nature, as its appearance in Unova was abrupt and confined to one area.

Regarding cleffa, if it had indeed been extraterrestrial, it came here thousands if not millions of years ago, as clefairy colonies are well-established and often ancient (albeit extremely difficult to find). And lunatone and solrock are thought to either be sentient meteorites or mutated (and thus inactive) evolution stones, depending on whom you ask in the scientific community.

Personally, though, and in regards to your last question, I believe that even if these pokémon didn’t actually come from space (although I also admit that I believe they did), statistically speaking, there’s no doubt there are inhabitable worlds out there—and, perhaps, extraterrestrial pokémon. It simply wouldn’t make sense for there to be a great vastness that only developed one instance of life, to be frank.

Minior

Minior
The Meteor Pokémon
Type: Rock/Flying
Official Registration #: 774
Entry: A small, meteoroid pokémon native to the mountains where cleffa are prevalent. The most commonly sighted form is actually composed of this pokémon surrounded by a rocky shell formed from its own wastes. Minior’s true form is a ball of brightly colored plasma most commonly found in the upper atmosphere. It consumes dust at the edge of Earth’s stratosphere, and when this dust is digested, it colors minior’s plasma and forms its outside shell. When minior grows heavy enough, it falls to Earth, where its shell may break open, either on impact or whenever it’s struck by a wild opponent. The core, meanwhile, is unstable and explodes after a few seconds of exposure unless drawn into the suspension grid of a poké ball. Because of the highly volatile nature of its own body, minior often employ the move Self-Destruct in a desperate attempt to keep itself from predators. Despite the danger its very nature poses, minior is a favored companion to cleffa, who are often seen attempting to catch and ride minior in possibly the most adorable and unfortunate examples of pokémon-to-pokémon domestication in existence. It’s considered to be highly cute because of cleffa’s adorable nature and the light minior produce, but it’s considered to be highly unfortunate because cleffa don’t normally possess defenses against a close-range Self-Destruct.

Can a past trauma get in the way of a Pokemon evolving via happiness? My Cleffa is from a shelter and I was told he was abused by his old trainer. He’s my baby now and I’ve spoiled him ever since, but recently he’s shown an interest in battling and I’ve started to ease him into it. It might be too early to tell, but I know he loves me a lot already and I’m not seeing any signs yet.

Sometimes, anonymous, but in your case, it’s unlikely. You see, trauma requires a lot of mental healing. Some pokémon never really get over a personal history filled with abuse and neglect, but others do in a very big way. It depends on a number of factors, mainly the degree of abuse, the personality of the pokémon, and the amount of love and patience a trainer shows them. If recovering pokémon can heal enough to open themselves up to their new trainers, they can experience the amount of happiness required for evolution.

In your case, it seems like your cleffa has already made incredible steps to recovery if he loves you deeply already. Continue doing what you’ve been doing to maintain his trust, and do your best to support him on the battlefield. I have no doubt that evolution should be easy for him if you continue to care for him the way you are now.

Best of luck, anonymous!

The Clefairy Line

Cleffa
The Star Shape Pokémon
Type: Fairy
Official Registration #: 173
Entry: Because of its star shape and tendency to appear during meteor showers, it is said that cleffa and its evolved forms originated from either the moon or elsewhere in space. In order to determine if this claim has any grain of truth to it, tests have been proposed by numerous scientists throughout history to determine whether or not cleffa can withstand the extreme conditions of space. However, no test has ever gotten past the proposal stage for two reasons. First, cleffa are listed on the endangered wild pokémon list, making testing with them virtually impossible. Second, shooting a pokémon into the vacuum of space is generally frowned upon by ethics boards.

Clefairy
The Fairy Pokémon
Type: Fairy
Official Registration #: 35
Entry: The evolved form of cleffa, via happiness. Little-known fact about clefairy—they secrete a sticky substance from the backs of their throats that hardens into a crystalline form upon exposure to air. Additionally, their tendency to dance under the light of the full moon is actually an irresistible drive, not simply a behavior some of them enjoy if given an appropriate amount of time and space. Both of these facts make life as a clefairy rather awkward, but on the positive side, their fur is about as soft as velvet, and the ability to hear even the most subtle sounds is a plus. …Not that the writer would know anything about either, of course.

Clefable
The Fairy Pokémon
Type: Fairy
Official Registration #: 36
Entry: The evolved form of clefairy, by exposure to moon stone. Although its pink fur, its rabbit-like ears, and its bouncing gait make it an adorable choice for a pet, this pokémon is not to be underestimated. In truth, clefable possess enough fairy magic to bring down a rampaging hydreigon, and this combined with its extremely acute hearing and its disarmingly soft and cute look make it a vicious predator of dragon-type pokémon. Entire hordes of clefable have been known to take down wandering dragons. Whether this is to feed their expansive clefairy colonies or simply because they enjoy hunting for sport is still a matter of debate.
