Wasn’t it black liepard? considering liepards were actually based on panthers XD

{Not anymore!

Edit: No, really, this was actually a conscious decision because 1) luxray are cooler, which is an opinion that may or may not be influenced by my Nuzlocking attempts, and 2) I wasn’t sure how okay naming the Black Panther expy after liepard would be for various reasons. So … luxray.

Although part of me now regrets not naming him after incineroar. I mean, realtalk.}

As someone who’s new, question to the mod: what is the clefairy incident and was it ever explained?? I keep seeing references to it but I have no idea what it’s on about

{So! Before anything else, I kinda want to cover this other question that I’ve actually gotten a couple of times because it’s kinda important to the Clefairy Incident. But basically, Bill is a minor (canon) character in the Pokémon universe responsible for inventing the storage system, which is the thing that stores your pokémon after you catch the six you’re allowed to carry. (Lanette manages this system in Hoenn, so she’s canon too.)

That’s one thing Bill’s known for. The other thing is, well, turning into a pokémon via an experiment gone wrong. Idk, guys. It was the 90s, and everyone was making jokes about The Fly. But in any case, while that pokémon was never specified in Red, Blue, or Yellow, in the remakes of the Gen I games (Fire Red and Leaf Green), it was specifically a clefairy.

Canonically, word about this got out and spread, which we know because it’s part of the reason why Lillie leaves for Kanto in Sun and Moon. But in the canon of this blog, Bill’s less enthusiastic about talking about it, which is why he and the other storage system administrators just refer to the accident as the Clefairy Incident.}

{Please….. tell us the Forbidden Asks.}

{Haha, I haven’t gotten any in a while, and I generally delete them when I recognize them, so I don’t entirely remember the exact contents of all of them. But I do know that:

1. The one that was most memorable involved someone asking about whether or not their thumb-sucking riolu was valid, and this would have been an innocuous ask if it wasn’t preceded by literally three other asks about thumb-sucking. Or didn’t go on about how cute their riolu was when he sucked his thumb, so is it okay to just let him suck his thumb and be babied?

2. So many asks detailing people’s romantic lives with the gardevoir that they’ve caught (which of course means that the gardevoir is either eternally grateful to them or highly obedient). So many asks. Especially whenever another post about gardevoir makes it through.

3. And then there was that ask about what pokémon farts are like. I … I don’t know, guys.

So, uh, the moral of the story is, if you’re asking about how to take care of baby pokémon, please make your ask short, simple, and as generic as possible, and even then, Bill might just point you to the tags. If you’re asking about gardevoir, probably don’t go into how ready and willing she is. And if you’re asking about pokémon farts … they … they smell exactly as you’d imagine.}

@the mod: how do you feel about the really odd questions?

{Depends on what “really odd” means. 😉 A lot of the stuff that actually gets posted to the odd-questions tag is hilarious, imo, especially the stuff that ribs on Bill or the stuff that sets up a perfect witty reply from him. It’s great getting meme or crack questions because they’re a fun break from the serious ones or the ones that require a lot of research. And honestly, the more ridiculous, the better. This one dude once wrote this entire series of asks in which he invented increasingly elaborate ways to throw tea into Bill’s pond (because the Bill that I’m writing is the animeverse one, who speaks with that hilariously fake British accent we Americans keep giving our cartoon characters).

Then there’s the other definition of odd, which doesn’t really get posted (and sometimes doesn’t get posted at all). Like, if a question is a little on the fetishy side, then those get extremely uncomfortable to work with, mostly because some of these fetishes tread uncomfortable waters. For example, there was more than one ask about thumb-sucking baby pokémon, and the amount of detail spent on describing said thumb-sucking baby pokémon made it obvious that they were actually sent in by the age-regression/adult baby fandom. And I know ykinmk, but 1) please don’t put your fetishes in someone else’s ask box (unless you’re on a blog for that fetish), and 2) um……. /psa

Then of course there are the asks that kinda tread into other kinds of offensive waters, like that time someone really wanted to make Cynthia straight.

Point is, good odd? Hilarious. Keep them coming! Bad odd? Bit uncomfortable there. D:}

((unrelated but I’ve been following you for a while and I really love your writing I feel a lot of this is real it’s great, plus the pokemon versions of various shows and other world building make it definitely feel more solid and less “game where you fight people”))

{Aww, thank you! 😀 I might’ve mentioned this before (which means I’m sorry if this comes off as a cookie-cutter response when, no, it is just really true), but I adore worldbuilding and adding little details to characters and settings. It’s a lot of fun to share all of this, so it’s awesome to see other people enjoy it. Mostly because it’s more of an excuse to go all-out on more worldbuilding. 8D}

Gender=/=sex so ofc there’s people with trans pokesonas, plus people just don’t care about canon stuff

{Just so we’re clear, people know LH is a character/that this is an ask blog, right? Asking because of the “canon” part here. It’s not the first time it’s happened, and it’s always a little confusing when it does because I’m never sure if people expect the actual mun/yours truly to respond to/apologize for things the characters are saying. D:}

{Side announcement, but whoever sent in multiple asks about Cynthia not being gay, please note we don’t normally publish asks that inform the canon of our blog, as the mun has her own headcanon that doesn’t always agree with fanon. As such, we discourage asks that push us to change our canon completely to avoid destabilizing the world created through Bill’s posts and interfering with his ability to answer asks confidently. In other words, please don’t submit asks that push us to retract posts or information unless they’re actually harmful, as anything else is godmoding. It also can potentially lead to awkward and offensive arguments and drama, depending on the subject matter.

Finally, Cynthia is now super gay, and her coming out was absolutely on her terms and inspiring.}
