The Roggenrola Line

Roggenrola
The Mantle Pokémon
Type: Rock
Official Registration #: 524
Entry: A small, boulder-like pokémon native to Unovan caves. Roggenrola are easily recognizable by two features: the hard-as-steel skin covering its entire body and the hexagon-shaped ear hole drilled into its front. The author will pause here to give the reader time to get over their inevitable astonishment that the hole in the front of a roggenrola is, in fact, an ear and not an eye or a mouth.

Boldore
The Ore Pokémon
Type: Rock
Official Registration #: 525
Entry: The evolved form of roggenrola, by battle experience. After having trained deep within the harsh conditions of its underground home, boldore has attained power too great for its body, and thus, upon evolution, orange crystals have burst through its steel-like skin to contain its excess energy. And yes, those are two ear holes.

Gigalith
The Compressed Pokémon
Type: Rock
Official Registration #: 526
Entry: The evolved form of boldore, via trading. Upon evolution, gigalith’s crystals not only retain the ability to store their host’s excess energy, but they are also capable of collecting solar energy on the rare occasions that this pokémon is on the surface. Once enough energy has been collected, gigalith can compress this energy into its core and fire it off as a destructive ball of light. And yes, those are still ear holes. This pokémon has no eyes, and its mouth is on its underside. These are just facts the reader must become accustomed to, should they wish to train any member of this evolution line.

The Pidove Line

Pidove
The Tiny Pigeon Pokémon
Type: Normal/Flying
Official Registration #: 519
Entry: A small, pigeon-like pokémon endemic to the urban areas of Unova and Kalos. Notorious for its forgetfulness, pidove have a tendency to wait for their next orders, even if a trainer had already issued one. They also have the tendency to forget that they can fly, that the window they had flown into three seconds earlier exists, that purrloin eat them, and practically anything at all if shown a small chunk of bread.

Tranquill
The Wild Pigeon Pokémon
Type: Normal/Psychic
Official Registration #: 520
Entry: The evolved form of pidove, by battle experience. Tranquill are known for being excellent messengers, largely because they possess the ability to return to their trainers, regardless of how far they have to fly in order to do so. Given the forgetfulness of tranquill’s previous evolution, this has naturally baffled behaviorists for centuries. Less baffling: the fact that tranquill don’t seem to take “it’s amazing that you can remember you have your trainer, given, you know, what you were like as a pidove” as a compliment.

Unfezant
The Proud Pokémon
Type: Normal/Flying
Official Registration #: 521
Entry: The evolved form of tranquill, by battle experience. The sexual dimorphism of this pokémon has been a point of interest to pokémonologists for years. Males possess elaborate, brightly colored plumage, which they show off during mating season by swinging their heads in a display designed to simultaneously attract females and threaten males away from mating candidates. The females, meanwhile, possess duller plumage but stronger wings, the latter of which grant them flying abilities that are practically unrivaled among bird pokémon, their male counterparts included. To be fair, though, it’s perfectly understandable. Whenever certain subsets of the human species display similar behaviors to male unfezant, their potential mating candidates, too, display impressive flight abilities for the sake of evacuating immediately, and the author, to be frank, can hardly blame them.

Cubchoo and Beartic

Cubchoo
The Chill Pokémon
Type: Ice
Official Registration #: 613
Entry: The nose of this small, polar bear-like pokémon is constantly running. When in battle, it sniffs its giant drop of snot back into its nose because the mucus provides it with the raw material needed for its ice powers … and also because making an opponent feel immensely disgusted is a fantastically effective distraction.

Beartic
The Freezing Pokémon
Type: Ice
Official Registration #: 614
Entry: The evolved form of cubchoo, by battle experience. An apex predator of the frosty north, this polar bear pokémon is capable of exhaling freezing breaths. It uses this breath to form icy claws and fangs to fight and take down prey … because the six-inch claws and three-inch fangs it already has is certainly not enough.

Munna and Musharna

Munna
The Dream Eater Pokémon
Type: Psychic
Official Registration #: 517
Entry: This small, rare tapir-like pokémon has the ability to manipulate dreams. Using its hypnotic powers, it lulls a target to sleep and then proceeds to consume their dreams. Insomniacs and those plagued by nightmares find munna especially useful. That having been said, it is also worth it to note that, contrary to current popular belief, munna is not a “drowzee’s sober first cousin.”

Musharna
The Drowsing Pokémon
Type: Psychic
Official Registration #: 518
Entry: The evolved form of munna, by exposure to moon stone. Like its preevolved form, musharna use its hypnotic abilities to lull a target to sleep so that it may consume their dreams. Once consumed, these dreams are converted into dream smoke, which is expelled by the jewel on musharna’s forehead. This dream smoke has a tendency to change colors, depending on the dreams the host musharna had consumed, with the more vivid ones taking on bright, vibrant hues. Said dreams moke also has the tendency to produce psychotropic effects if deliberately inhaled by a human being … which, contrary to current popular belief, the author does not know from experience.

Druddigon

Druddigon
The Cave Pokémon
Type: Dragon
Official Registration #: 621
Entry: This fierce, dragon-like pokémon warms its body by absorbing sunlight through its jagged wings. It must do this daily, as if its body temperature falls, it will lose its ability to move. …Which is exactly why this pokémon lives in cold, damp, sunless caves.

Yamask and Cofagrigus

Yamask
The Spirit Pokémon
Type: Ghost
Official Registration #: 562
Entry: A ghost-type pokémon prevalent in the graveyards and ruins of Unova. It is said that yamask are the restless spirits of those close to pokémon, transformed for eternity into pokémon forms. The mask they carry, then, are the faces they once possessed, which are their final token of their lives as humans, as well as a constant reminder of their eternal curse. Then again, yamask can also communicate with other pokémon and wield pokémon powers, so … the author, for one, could probably deal with eternal damnation to the moral plane and the existential horror involved with the loss of identity.

Cofagrigus
The Coffin Pokémon
Type: Ghost
Official Registration #: 563
Entry: The evolved form of yamask, by battle experience. Upon evolution, yamask take up residence within a golden, coffin-like shell. From this shell, they reach out with their four ghostly arms to snatch up hapless wanderers and graverobbers and pull them into their bodies. This is just one thing cofagrigus is famous for. The other thing popularly known about this pokémon is the fact that whoever named it clearly did so with the conscious intent of creating a massive headache for those of us who deal with adult content filter systems … such as, say, for example, administrators of digital transportation systems.

The Vanillite Line

Vanillite
The Fresh Snow Pokémon
Type: Ice
Official Registration #: 582
Entry: Even at a young age, this sprite pokémon is gifted with extraordinary mastery over the ice element. It breathes gusts of wind that reach temperatures of up to -58 degrees Fahrenheit, and it can make snow fall in the areas around it, even in ordinarily hot and humid conditions. Additionally, this pokémon and its evolutions are noted for strongly resembling ice cream cones, but the reader should be aware that vanillite does not taste like vanilla.

Vanillish
The Icy Snow Pokémon
Type: Ice
Official Registration #: 583
Entry: The evolved form of vanillite, by battle experience. Its mastery over the ice element continues to grow after evolution, to the point where it gains the ability to not only create snowfall but sustain it in the air in order to generate a fog of ice and snow to conceal it from enemies. It also does not taste like vanilla.

Vanilluxe
The Snowstorm Pokémon
Type: Ice
Official Registration #: 584
Entry: The evolved form of vanillish, by battle experience. A highly dangerous ice-type, vanilluxe is capable of drawing in large amounts of water and moisture from the air and exhaling raging blizzards in an instant. These blizzards have the ability to freeze an opponent or induce frostbite in humans within seconds. On the other hand, this pokémon does taste like vanilla, so there’s at least some positive in attempting to approach one.

Patrat and Watchog

Patrat
The Scout Pokémon
Type: Normal
Official Registration #: 504
Entry: Normally a cautious pokémon, this short, meerkat-like creature prefers living in large colonies so that it and its fellow patrat can maintain a constant watch on each other. When taken away from its colony, a trained patrat has been known to forgo sleep in favor of watching its trainer. Always watching. With those large, glowing, hypnotic eyes. PATRAT IS ALWAYS WATCHING.

Watchog
The Lookout Pokémon
Type: Normal
Official Registration #: 505
Entry: The evolved form of patrat, by battle experience. It IS ALWAYS WATCHING. ALWAYS. WATCHING. ALL HAIL THE HYPNOTIC MEERKAT.

Bill, I’m not even sure you’re trying anymore. —LH

Audino

Audino
The Hearing Pokémon
Type: Normal
Official Registration #: 531
Entry: A rabbit-like pokémon native to the fields of Unova. Audino possess not only sensitive ears but also specialized feelers for detecting sound, which in combination gift it with the most sensitive hearing in the pokémon kingdom. As such, audino are typically timid pokémon, but they also make great healers, not only because they have the ability to detect aliments and heartbeats by sound but also because they have a natural inclination towards wanting to cure others. It is thus one of the gentlest pokémon in existence as well as one of the most useful to both trainers and civilians alike … yet most of Unova know it as “the best punching bag to use if you really want to get your pokémon some battle experience.”

do you have any information on the Haxorus family?

Ah, the axew line. Such an interesting topic!

Axew
The Tusk Pokémon
Type: Dragon
Official Registration #: 610
Entry: A rare, cave-dwelling dragon pokémon. The axew line is most famous for its sharp, prominent tusks, which begin to grow shortly after hatching. At this stage of its life, axew can lose their tusks as a result of intense battling, but they can quickly grow back over time. Additionally, axew frequently use their tusks to crush berries or, more commonly, to mark their territory against tree trunks. For the latter reason, trainers should take caution, as some axew have difficulty distinguishing between tree trunks and their trainers’ legs, and some of these axew have particularly brittle teeth.

Fraxure
The Axe Jaw Pokémon
Type: Dragon
Official Registration #: 611
Entry: The evolved form of axew, by battle experience. Upon evolution, fraxure lose the ability to regrow their tusks, but in return, their tusks grow harder and sharper, to the point where they can shatter rocks. This may perhaps be of no comfort to trainers who were under the impression that evolution will spare their legs from axew marking. Doubly so for those who raise entire teams of axew, as fraxure are notorious for extremely violent and bloody territory battles, even between other fraxure.

Haxorus
The Axe Jaw Pokémon
Type: Dragon
Official Registration #: 612
Entry: The evolved form of fraxure, by battle experience. Paradoxically, while their previous form was violently territorial, haxorus are known for being kind and gentle creatures (when not protecting their territories from active invaders). However, every part of a haxorus body is as hard as steel and as sharp as a well-maintained battle axe, so trainers of the axew line should be warned that evolution of their fraxure may not bring that much comfort—especially if their haxorus is particularly affectionate.
