Trubbish and Garbodor

Trubbish
The Trash Bag Pokémon
Type: Poison
Official Registration #: 568
Entry:
(1): A small, trash-like pokémon native to Unova. The combination of garbage bags and industrial waste caused the chemical reaction that created this Pokémon. They have a tendency to follow those who litter, as the garbage thrown out by such humans may then be added to the trubbish’s body as sustenance.
(2): Synonym for an Unovan conservative.

Garbodor
The Trash Heap Pokémon
Type: Poison
Official Registration #: 569
Entry:
(1): The evolved form of trubbish, by battle experience. Consuming garbage makes new kinds of poison gases and liquids inside their bodies. They have the ability to shoot these gases and liquids from either their mouth or the pipes within their hands, and as a result, they will frequently attempt to pin a target to the ground with either their bodies or their other hands in order to deliver a devastating toxic blow from either orifice.
(2): Synonym for [NAME OF SPECIFIC UNOVAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE DELETED—PLEASE STOP TRYING TO GET US SUED, BILL]

Woobat and Swoobat

Woobat
The Bat Pokémon
Type: Psychic/Flying
Official Registration #: 527
Entry: A small, bat-like pokémon native to certain cave systems in Unova and Kalos. Blind from birth, woobat use ultrasonic waves to navigate until they find solid surfaces. There, they rest by latching onto the surface with a powerful form of suction generated by their heart-shaped nostrils. This suction is so strong that it can leave a heart-shaped mark behind, but this mark is said to be a symbol of good fortune to the Unovans. To the rest of the world, these are called “hickeys” or “love bites,” and they’re only of moderate importance.

Swoobat
The Courting Pokémon
Type: Psychic/Flying
Official Registration #: 528
Entry: The evolved form of woobat, as a result of a heightened sense of happiness. Swoobat use their ability to generate ultrasonic waves in their courtship rituals, usually as a means to woo potential mates. Studies have shown that anyone caught within these waves experience sudden bouts of euphoria and generally positive mood shifts. Studies have also shown that slight changes in the frequency of these waves can smash concrete, so either “positive mood shifts” is a euphemism on the part of the pokédex or trainers interested in raising swoobat should take extra precaution during mating season. The author will allow his readers to decide.

Zorua and Zoroark

Zorua
The Tricky Fox Pokémon
Type: Dark
Official Registration #: 570
Entry: This fox-like pokémon is most famous for its signature defense mechanism. When in the vicinity of anything it perceives as a potential threat, it instantly transforms into people or other pokémon in order to confuse said threat long enough for it to get away. It has been known to favor the form of a silent child when near humans. Should anyone wonder how this could be considered much of a defense mechanism, imagine walking through a forest when all of a sudden, a child appears right beside you and stares at you silently.

Zoroark
The Illusion Fox Pokémon
Type: Dark
Official Registration #: 571
Entry: The evolved form of zorua, by battle experience. Zoroark are considered masters of disguise, capable of transforming into anything to confuse large groups of people simultaneously. While many of these illusions are highly complex, there have also been instances in which all a zoroark did to confuse its victim was don a pair of glasses and some human clothes. Young trainers from Pallet Town and their friends are, apparently, particularly susceptible to these tactics.

Sigilyph

Sigilyph
The Avianoid Pokémon
Type: Psychic/Flying
Official Registration #: 561
Entry: This strange, telekinetic pokémon is said to be the guardian of ancient cities. As such, it is frequently found patrolling specific areas that once housed sites that were important to ancient Unovan culture. If an intruder is found on these grounds, it will attack viciously using beams of psychic energy and its telekinetic powers. Perhaps it should go without saying, but sigilyph make absolutely no distinction between humans who are trespassing with malicious intent and completely innocuous human researchers who happen to be fantastically curious about rumors concerning Unovan ruins and certain extremely rare and powerful insectoid pokémon. That is to say, take caution if you choose to enter sigilyph territory, as sigilyph are both impulsive when it comes to attacking and perfectly capable of chasing one across miles of Unovan desert.

Hello Bill! I went through the entire database you have posted here (I love your work by the way!) and I have come across the realization that you do not have an entry for the fabled Pokemon Kyurem. I have heard it can easily generate freezing cold temperatures and is said to be vicious, so if you go to investigate, be careful! Be sure to post your findings as well.

Thank you!

It’s very true that I have yet to cover many of the Unovan legendaries, and I do agree that the legend of Kyurem is especially fascinating. However, I must say that it would hardly do the legend justice to cover only Kyurem and not the other two dragons associated with the story, so without further ado, the dragons of Unova:

Reshiram
The Vast White Pokémon
Type: Dragon/Fire
Official Registration #: 643
Entry: According to Unovan folklore, Reshiram flew across the region on feathery, white wings and wielded powerful flames to fight in the name of truth. According to Unovan memes, however, the most interesting aspects of Reshiram are its species name and the pointed organ between its hind legs, and because of this unfortunately placed interest, this blog’s staff finds it necessary to clarify that the name “Vast White” refers to Reshiram’s height, the organ between its hind legs is a set of feathers that assists in navigation, and the author is immensely disappointed in anyone who assumes otherwise for any of this.

Zekrom
The Deep Black Pokémon
Type: Dragon/Electric
Official Registration #: 644
Entry: According to Unovan folklore, Zekrom flew across the region on leathery, black wings and wielded powerful bolts of electricity to fight in the name of ideals. More specifically, Zekrom sided with anyone who sought an ideal world by hiding in anvil clouds and striking the earth or its trainer’s opponents with lightning. Because nothing says “Unovan” quite like establishing your concept of an ideal world via liberal application of excessive force, preferably from above.

Kyurem
The Boundary Pokémon
Type: Dragon/Ice
Official Registration #: 646
Entry: According to Unovan folklore, Kyurem fell to Earth thousands of years ago, and in the process, the energy contained within its body split in two and evacuated to form Reshiram and Zekrom. In the absence of both its thirst for truth and passion for ideals, Kyurem became an icy shell: empty within, save for the power to exude supercold air capable of freezing anything within a mile radius of itself. In other words, Kyurem is a hollow being, devoid of all its hopes and dreams but in possession of an icy heart—which, in other words, means that this pokémon is a rather accurate depiction of adulthood.

Purrloin and Liepard

Purrloin
The Devious Pokémon
Type: Dark
Official Registration #: 509
Entry: Due to this kitten-like pokémon’s deceptive cuteness, the humans of purrloin’s native Unova are frequently incapable of holding a grudge against it, even when it blatantly steals food and valuables from them. As this use of an adorable, wholesome-looking facade in order to evade punishment is a well-known habit of theirs, purrloin has come to be thought of as, even among native Unovans, an accurate representation of the Unovan justice system on the whole.

Liepard
The Cruel Pokémon
Type: Dark
Official Registration #: 510
Entry: The evolved form of purrloin, by battle experience. This sleek but beautiful leopard-like pokémon is known among Unovans for two things. First, it is widely considered a symbol of elegance, with its shimmering pelt and graceful movements. Second, it is known for stalking its prey with the utmost stealth and attacking them from behind. That having been said, it is a point of interest in this author’s opinion that many pokémon in Unova seem to enjoy sneaking up on its prey and attacking it from behind or using appearances to coax its target into letting its guard down … not that this author is saying this implies anything about Unova or its people, of course.

The Klink Line

Klink
The Gear Pokémon
Type: Steel
Official Registration #: 599
Entry: Although every klink consists of minigears that look similar to those of every other klink, in actuality, each minigear possesses gears that vary ever so slightly to the point where the minigear of one will not fit with the minigear of the other. Thus, klink that become separated and encounter other klink will simply rebound off of any minigear that is not their predetermined partner. Interestingly, however, klink minigear must always be in motion, as their constant movement against each other generates the energy a full klink requires to live, and the second a klink separates, that movement ceases. So how the behavior of separated klink minigears may be observed is, as with many other pieces of pokémonology, a point of mystery and fascination to this author.

Klang
The Gear Pokémon
Type: Steel
Official Registration #: 600
Entry: The evolved form of klink, by battle experience. Klang uses the speed and direction of its gears to communicate its emotions; the faster and more rigorous its gears turn, the more excited or upset it is. At its most agitated, its gears may reach speeds that could cause components to be shot free from a klang’s body. Should this happen, the klang’s entire bioelectrical system will cease to move, which in turn will force the unfortunate klang to shut down and die. Also at risk for dying: anyone standing within range of a large, thin piece of metal being shot from an overheating mechanical pokémon. Needless to say, only one of these things is mentioned in the Unovan pokédex.

Klinklang
The Gear Pokémon
Type: Steel
Official Registration #: 601
Entry: The evolved form of klang, by battle experience. The red core in the center of this giant mechanical pokémon serves as an energy tank. As klinklang spins, it generates energy that the core then channels into its electrical and light-based attacks. Of course, this bright red, giant core that is largely exposed from above may also serve a second, handier purpose: as a giant bullseye for quite seriously anything that wishes to attack as it generates the power it needs to strike.

Can you do the Lillipup line, please?

Ah, the lillipup line! Puppy-like lines are certainly some of the most fascinating, although I must say that lillipup isn’t quite as scientifically curious as eevee. Nonetheless…

Lillipup
The Puppy Pokémon
Type: Normal
Official Registration #: 506
Entry: According to the Unovan pokédex, this small, terrier-like pokémon is both brave and intelligent. When faced with an opponent of equal or lesser strength than itself, it will attack to defend its trainer from harm. However, when faced with an opponent of greater strength than itself, it will acknowledge its opponent’s strength and run away. Unfortunately, however, this is only what it does in theory. In practice, lillipup are small, tenacious pokémon that will bark and charge at anything, regardless of power. While this may sound adorable, the author should warn you that this means anything and that it would be extremely prudent to keep lillipup away from anything that may charge a trainer as well. Such as bouffalant.

Herdier
The Loyal Dog Pokémon
Type: Normal
Official Registration #: 507
Entry: The evolved form of lillipup, by battle experience. As herdier grows, the black, cape-like fur on its back hardens and thickens to form a cushion against any blow it may receive. Each hair is coarse, and the older a herdier gets, the coarser and more needle-like these hairs become. It should also be noted that while herdier normally do not shed excessively, the occasional hair loss is normal … which is to say, it may be prudent to get rid of any and all carpeting in your home.

Stoutland
The Big-Hearted Pokémon
Type: Normal
Official Registration #: 508
Entry: The evolved form of herdier, by battle experience. Although many people outside of the research community believe stoutland’s species name refers to its kindness and bravery (traits inferred from its tendency to seek out and rescue lost humans and pokémon in even the fiercest mountainous blizzards), in actuality, it stems from its literal abnormally large heart, which can weigh up to 1.2% of its body weight—possibly even more for those that exercise particularly vigorously. How a three-foot-tall dog can have a heart that large without telekinetic assistance or suffering the effects of abnormally high blood pressure or other coronary issues is still a matter of scientific debate and fascination.

The Blitzle Line

Blitzle
The Electrified Pokémon
Type: Electric
Official Registration #: 522
Entry: A zebra-like pokémon native to the grasslands of Unova. Shockingly for a newborn pokémon, blitzle have full mastery of their elemental discharges and can use its habit of glowing when charging its electrifyingly bright mane and stripes with electricity to communicate with other members of the blitzle line soon after birth. What do they talk about? Current events, naturally. In fact, the life of a blitzle is quite exciting. They’re hardly ever static. One could even say they’re [THE REST OF THIS POST HAS BEEN CENSORED FOR INCREASINGLY HORRIFIC PUNS. WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE.]

Zebstrika
The Thunderbolt Pokémon
Type: Electric
Official Registration #: 523
Entry: The evolved form of blitzle, by battle experience. Research has been conducted into whether or not zebstrika and rapidash are close relatives, as both are equine pokémon of similar height, both belong to the same egg group, and both have a tendency to unleash their respective elements onto riders they don’t particularly care for.

The Oshawott Line

Oshawott
The Sea Otter Pokémon
Type: Water
Official Registration #: 501
Entry: One of three pokémon traditionally offered to new trainers at the beginning of their journeys in Unova. A small but tenacious otter pokémon, oshawott quickly attacks using the scalchop it normally stores on its stomach. According to the Unovan pokédex, this scalchop is made of the same elements as claws … which means absolutely nothing because a lot of things in the natural world are made of the same elements as claws.

Dewott
The Discipline Pokémon
Type: Water
Official Registration #: 502
Entry: The evolved form of oshawott, by battle experience. True to its species, dewott trains endlessly in order to master sword-like techniques with its dual scalchops. There are many interpretations as to why dewott do this. Some researchers note that the scalchop is a difficult weapon to master, so dewott compensate for this with elaborate swordplay styles unique to each individual specimen. Others say dewott are secretly training to avenge their fallen masters, to which the first group of researchers will often respond by telling the second to stop watching terrible kung fu movies and that their tastes in film is questionable at best. The author, of course, wishes to respectfully disagree by informing his editor that kung fu films are an art form, thank you.

Samurott
The Formidable Pokémon
Type: Water
Official Registration #: 503
Entry: The evolved form of dewott, by battle experience. A master of katana-like swordplay, samurott engage in battle by unleashing an intimidating cry, followed by a vicious, lightning-fast attack with its seamitars, or the blades attached to the front legs of its armor. Not only can samurott unsheathe these blades with incredible speed and dexterity, but they are also capable of dual-wielding both of their seamitars at once … which is itself impressive for a pokémon that requires four legs to stand.
